Head of Finance - Midlands - NHS - Hybrid

Role: Head of Finance

Location: Midlands (2-3 days per week onsite working)

Duration: 3 Months initially.

Rate: £500 per day

IR35 Status: INSIDE

Head Of Finance - About The Role

As the Head of Finance, you'll be at the heart of our financial operations, providing high-quality finance support services to our Executive Management Team and Strategic Leadership Team. Working closely with the Resources and Governance Director, you'll play a crucial role in shaping the financial future of the organisation.

Head Of Finance Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Financial Leadership: Lead strategic financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting for Children's Services
  • Financial Control & Sustainability: Ensure robust financial controls that enable long-term financial sustainability
  • Trusted Advisory Role: Provide professional counsel and strategic insight to front-line departments as their go-to financial advisor
  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop our financial transaction and administration teams
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong, impactful relationships with colleagues, customers, and key stakeholders across the organization

What We're Looking For

Head of Finance Essential Requirements

  • Professional Qualification: Qualified accountant (CIPFA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Sector Experience: Proven track record in public sector finance, ideally within local government
  • Specialist Knowledge: Experience in children's services finance (highly desirable)
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership capabilities with excellent stakeholder management experience
  • Strategic Mindset: Strategic thinker who can balance big-picture planning with hands-on delivery
