Job summary

Four Recruitment is partnering with an employee-owned business to appoint a Head of Finance who will lead the finance function across multiple entities and report directly to the Board. The role is ideal for a senior finance professional with construction sector experience seeking a high-impact leadership position.

You will drive budgeting, cashflow, statutory compliance and financial planning while developing the team and partnering with site operations to improve profitability and governance.

Qualifications

• Qualified Accountant with ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent.
• Significant senior finance leadership experience.
• Construction industry finance experience.
• Knowledge of CIS, VAT and statutory obligations.
• Experience across multi-entity finance functions.
• Board-level financial reporting experience.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Finance Team, providing coaching and leadership.
• Produce timely monthly management accounts and board reports.
• Present financial performance, forecasts and strategic recommendations to the Board.
• Develop and deliver financial strategies aligned to business objectives.
• Manage budgeting, cashflow forecasting and financial planning processes.
• Oversee statutory accounting, tax compliance and audit activities.
• Manage financial operations across multiple entities.
• Ensure CIS, VAT and statutory obligations compliance.
• Monitor and improve financial controls, systems and processes.
• Support commercial decision-making through financial analysis and business partnering.
• Lead treasury and cash management activities.
• Oversee multi-currency transactions and reporting.
• Support acquisitions and growth initiatives where required.
• Collaborate with operations to drive profitability and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop the Finance Team, providing coaching, guidance and leadership.

• Support acquisitions, business growth initiatives and strategic projects where required.
• Work collaboratively with operational management teams to drive profitability and efficiency improvements.
• Ensure the organisation maintains high standards of financial governance, risk management and compliance.

Experience/Qualifications Required:

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Significant senior finance leadership experience.
• Construction industry finance experience.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience of Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) requirements.
• Experience managing finance functions across multiple trading entities.
• Proven ability to prepare and present financial information at Board and Senior Leadership level.
• Strategic finance experience with the ability to influence business decisions.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management experience.
• Experience leading and developing finance teams.
• Excellent commercial awareness and analytical skills.
• Advanced Excel and financial systems experience.

The Package on offer:

• Salary - £70,000-£90,000 per annum (dependent upon experience)
• Hours - Full-time position with flexible working hours (flexitime), allowing you to manage your schedule while meeting project and team needs.
