Job description

Our Vision

Our Vision is simple: a world in which football is the heartbeat of healthy, happy, thriving communities.

Bloomsbury Football is building a future where every young person in London has access to the life-changing power of football regardless of background, ability or postcode/income.

We are a high-growth, high-impact charity using the power of football to level the playing field for young people across London. Every week, over 6,000 kids take part in our programmes regardless of background, ability, or postcode.

We’re scaling rapidly aiming to reach 20,000+ young people a week by 2028, with annual revenue of £12m+. We’re not your typical non-profit. We move fast, dream big, and build like a startup.

Our growth is powered by a relentless commitment to excellence on and off the pitch.

We operate like a startup: ambitious, fast-moving, and impact-obsessed. We make decisions based on outcomes, challenge ourselves constantly, and care deeply about doing things right for the long term. This is a team that’s committed to winning together with purpose, pace, and integrity.

About the Role

We’re hiring our first full-time Head of Finance to take full ownership of the function replacing our part-time lead and supported by external bookkeepers and a strong finance tech stack.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a lean, high-impact finance function, working closely with the CEO and leadership team. You’ll be both operator and strategist — hands-on with day-to-day financials while shaping the long-term financial direction as we scale toward £20m+ in revenue.

Your Mission

  • Deliver clean, actionable reporting for leadership, the board, and external stakeholders while ensuring clarity, transparency, and precision.
  • Own budgeting, reforecasting and financial planning, driving consistency, rigour and long-term thinking.
  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including credit control, cashflow management, and coordination with external bookkeepers.
  • Lead on audit, compliance and governance, ensuring we meet all statutory requirements and timelines.
  • Partner with teams across the organisation, building clear business cases and helping leaders understand financial impact.
  • Drive efficiency and scale identifying and implementing systems, tools, and processes that support long-term growth.
  • Invest our funds; treasury management and investing our reserves in the most effective way allows us to make even more impact!
  • Act as the lead contact for our Finance, Audit & Risk Committee (FARCom) including preparation of materials, analysis and recommendations.

About you

  • ACA (or equivalent) qualified, with 2+ years PQE.
  • Strong technical finance skills confident in budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and financial operations.

  • Evidence of driving improvements whether building processes, implementing new tools, or helping teams work smarter.
  • Proactive communicator and presenter with a proactive mindset someone who thrives in fast-paced, growing environments.
  • Growth-oriented and outcomes-focused you care about delivering great work that compounds over time.
  • Experience in a startup, scaleup, or mission-driven organisation is a plus but mindset matters most.
