Head of Finance

Salary: £61,116 - £65,749

Hybrid working (minimum 1 day a week onsite)

We are seeking a proactive, passionate, and positive Head of Finance to lead our financial team within a local authority setting. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a town with a rich heritage and a vibrant future, playing a vital role in the county's economic success.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance and working closely with the Director of Resources, you will oversee the Council's operational finance team, develop robust financial processes, and support managers in budget management. Your responsibilities will also include overseeing the production of the annual Statement of Accounts and maintaining relationships with internal and external auditors.

The finance team under your leadership covers a full range of local authority financial functions, including budget control, financial reporting, management accounting, treasury management, income collection, and maintaining the Agresso ICT system. Each service area has an assigned Business Support Accountant.

You will play a pivotal role in delivering our financial transformation programme, aimed at improving efficiency, procurement, processes, protocols, and systems, including overseeing the implementation of a new financial system from One Advanced.

This position is an excellent opportunity to influence the Council's financial policy and achievements, be part of the corporate management team, and contribute to preparations for local government reorganization.
