Job description

Job Title: Senior Financial Controller

Grafton Banks Finance is working with a successful international group to recruit a Senior Financial Controller for one of its manufacturing businesses.

Reporting to: Managing Director

Role Overview: This role will lead the finance function, requiring a qualified accountant with experience in SME businesses, preferably within manufacturing or inventory and cost accounting from a similar industry. The position is hands-on and detail-oriented.

Location & Salary: Full-time, office-based; salary range of £75,000 – 85,000 plus benefits, including a 10-15% bonus and private healthcare.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Support the MD with business management issues, process optimization, and strategic recommendations.
2. Provide commercial financial advice to senior management on investments and business decisions, ensuring robust appraisal of capital and operational investments.
3. Prepare weekly financial reports on sales, orders, working capital, cash flow, and sales forecasts.
4. Produce monthly management accounts, including profit & loss, balance sheet, cash flow, capex, and variances analysis.
5. Develop monthly reporting packs for group management review.
6. Assist in preparing annual budgets and 5-year financial plans.
7. Present financial data at board meetings and lead discussions on financial performance.
8. Contribute financial insights to pricing strategies and product costing with commercial teams.
9. Implement cost control measures across the business.
10. Manage cash flow and liquidity planning.
11. Maintain high standards of inventory control and management.
12. Coordinate with external advisors for the preparation of Corporation tax and R&D tax credit returns.

Candidate Profile: Strong communication skills, experience working with senior management, team management experience, and familiarity with ERP systems are advantageous.
