Job description

26th June, 2025

At Four Talent, we're proud to work with brilliant organisations that are driving making a difference every day and this opportunity is no exception.

We're looking for a Head of Finance for a newly created position and are looking for someone who brings a strong blend of strategic thinking, commercial acumen, and operational know-how. Someone who can keep an eye on the bigger picture while ensuring processes, controls, and financial best practice are rock solid.

This is a hands-on role with room to grow to a more strategic level. You'll work closely with the CEO and leadership team to help shape future plans, support smart decision-making, and embed financial thinking across the organisation. From high-level reporting and risk management to coaching teams and improving systems, you'll play a central role in driving impact and value.

You'll be joining a purpose-led organisation with a bold mission: to create positive social change through education and inclusion programmes that empower individuals, build confidence, and unlock potential.
This is more than just finance; this is about influence, insight, and impact.

What you'll be getting stuck into:

  • Acting as a trusted finance partner to the CEO and senior leaders - your insight will guide plans, shape priorities, and keep things on track.
  • Leading financial planning, reporting, forecasting, and risk management - ensuring the board, Trustees, and wider team are informed and empowered.
  • Embedding financial controls, compliance, and governance - keeping everything running smoothly and securely.
  • Owning data and insight - developing meaningful KPIs, tracking social value, and leading the annual Impact Report to show the real difference being made.
  • Managing the charity's Salesforce use - and finding smarter ways to leverage data for better decisions.
  • Keeping on top of VAT returns, payroll, gift aid, pensions, and investments.
  • Leading and developing a small, capable Finance team - supporting growth and succession.
  • Business partnering with Heads of Department - building capability and supporting financially confident decision-making.
What we're looking for:
  • Proven experience in a senior finance role where you've combined strategic leadership with a hands-on approach.
  • ACCA, CIMA, ACA, CIPFA (or similar) qualified.
  • Confident working with Xero (or similar accounting software) and the Microsoft 365 suite.
  • Skilled at translating financial data into plain English for non-finance colleagues - making the complex simple.
  • A solid understanding of financial risk management, including how cybersecurity, fraud controls, and financial risks interact.
  • Experience leading audits, preparing statutory accounts, and presenting at Board or Trustee level.
You'll fit right in if you're:
  • A natural communicator and collaborator and can building solid relationships at all levels.
  • A strategic thinker with a hands-on mindset.
  • Calm, proactive, and solution-focused under pressure.
  • Comfortable challenging the norm and spotting opportunities for improvement.
  • Someone who leads with purpose and believes in the power of people-driven change.
What's in it for you?
As well as a competitive salary and generous benefits, including 30 days annual leave (plus bank holidays) and Vitality health cover, you'll be part of something that truly matters. This is your chance to shape and strengthen work that changes lives for the better, alongside a supportive, values-driven team who care deeply about what they do.
