Finance Manager / Head of Finance

Status: Must have construction background in finance.

Salary/Rate: £55,000 - £70,000 per annum

Great opportunity to join an expanding team with significant growth potential, offering up to £70k basic salary plus bonus.

We are working exclusively with a B2B Service Sector, Facilities Management, and Fire company that is on an exciting growth journey, both organically and through acquisitions. An interesting opportunity has arisen for a permanent, full-time Head of Finance / Financial Manager based in North Kent, requiring in-office presence 5 days a week. The role involves managing the central finance operations, consolidating reporting, and reporting to the Board monthly.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on finance professional providing finance, accounting, and some commercial support across the organization. Reporting to the CEO, you will lead a small finance team and ensure the smooth operation of the finance function during this crucial growth period. Key skills include CIS JCT, cash flow management, and proficiency in Sage.

Key duties will include:

  1. Ensuring efficient and effective finance functions across the team
  2. Implementing and maintaining effective financial and operational controls and processes
  3. Producing timely, accurate financial reports, management accounts, and analysis
  4. Overseeing accounts payable and receivable
  5. Business modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and financial management
  6. Financial analysis to highlight variances, risks, and opportunities
  7. Managing transactional requirements daily, weekly, and monthly
  8. Monitoring cash flow and internal reports
  9. Supporting budget owners and commercial teams to meet targets and optimize value
  10. Leading statutory audits and quarterly VAT returns
  11. Improving accounting systems, including payroll and invoicing
  12. Ensuring proper recording, filing, and reporting of financial transactions
  13. Acting as key contact for external auditors and VAT submissions
  14. Creating systems to minimize data errors
  15. Managing a finance team of four

About you:

  • ACA/ACCA or CIMA qualified with 3-5 years PQE
  • Experience in a similar role within a B2B environment
  • Ability to translate financial data into management insights
  • Proven team management and development skills
  • Knowledge of corporate finance and group accounting
  • Technical proficiency, including system improvements and implementations
  • Good understanding of UK VAT and HMRC interactions
  • Ambitious, proactive, flexible, and well-organized
  • Excellent communication skills, able to work under pressure and manage priorities
  • Confident, results-driven, with some exposure to M&A and European operations setup
  • Willing to engage in wider business activities and adapt to changing priorities
  • Open to performing junior tasks when necessary
