Head of Finance - Tower Hamlets, London

An outstanding school in Central East London is seeking a dynamic and proactive Head of Finance to lead on financial operations and support strategic vision.

The new Head of Finance will be working closely with the school business manager, leadership, department heads and various teams, to drive financial excellence and accountability.

Head of Finance Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily financial operations, including monthly reconciliations, card and bank account reconciliations, and budget monitoring reports.
  • Manage invoice processing, financial control measures, and VAT returns.
  • Develop and monitor budgets to ensure financial stability and accountability.
  • Supervise and coordinate the site and catering teams, ensuring smooth ordering processes and effective financial management.
  • Regularly collaborate with department heads to review financial performance and address any issues.
  • Utilise Sage 200 and double-entry bookkeeping systems to maintain accurate financial records.
Head of Finance Requirements:
  • Relevant experience in finance and administration, with proven expertise in budget management and financial controls.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach when working with diverse teams.
  • Not required to be fully chartered (AAT Level 3 or 4 essential), but a willingness to upskill is necessary.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with strong organisational abilities.
Working Arrangements & Benefits:
  • Daily onsite presence required; part-time arrangements available (3-4 days/week, flexibility on hours is available).
  • Salary is £46,437 - £52,674 per annum and local government pension
