Role Overview:

The Head of Finance is a key leadership role within the organisation, responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring the company's financial health, and providing strategic financial leadership. This individual will manage the finance team, develop financial strategies, and contribute to organisational decision-making to drive business growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the finance team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality financial services and support across the Group.
  • Provide expert financial advice to the CEO, senior leadership team, and Board of Directors.
  • Support the CFO to ensure that the company's financial operations comply with relevant laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Collaborate and support the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial planning.
  • Conduct financial analysis to track performance, identify risks, and drive corrective actions.
  • Provide detailed financial reports and insights to senior management to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Drive financial performance through insightful analysis, identifying opportunities for margin improvement, cost optimisation, and efficiency gains.
  • Optimise working capital through proactive management. Work closely with operational and commercial teams to negotiate favourable supplier terms, and enhance credit control processes to maximise liquidity and financial efficiency.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure the company maintains liquidity and financial stability.
  • Oversee the company's treasury functions, including cash management, banking relationships, and debt financing.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting (internal and external), including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks, including operational, market, and regulatory risks.
  • Ensure the company's internal controls are robust, effective, and continuously improved.
  • Own the relationship with external auditors, ensuring a smooth audit process, timely financial reporting, and full compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage, mentor, train and develop the finance team, ensuring they have the necessary skills, training, and resources to perform effectively.
  • Collaborate with various departments to evaluate financial impacts of business decisions and provide financial insight to support business strategy.
  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of materials for Board meetings, annual reports, and investor updates.

Essential Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: A professional qualification in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 5 years in a senior finance management role (e.g., Finance Manager, Financial Controller, or Finance Director).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a finance team effectively, with experience in developing talent and fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, accounting principles, financial analysis, and budgeting. Experience with financial modelling and forecasting is crucial.
  • Familiarity with financial software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and proficiency in Excel. Experience with ERP systems is a plus.
  • Ability to think strategically and contribute to the long-term financial planning and growth of the company.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyse complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage competing priorities.
  • A solid understanding of the business and how financial decisions impact overall company performance.
  • High level of personal and professional integrity with the ability to make tough decisions and act with transparency.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Proactive and solution-oriented with a hands-on approach to resolving issues.
