Head of Farming

We are seeking a dynamic leader to guide our Farming team through a period of significant change, including shifts in agricultural policy following the repatriation of agricultural responsibilities to Westminster. The Head of Farming will be responsible for developing and executing the company's Farming business strategy for the short, medium, and long term.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Head of Rural to implement effective business plans and vision.
  • Ensure the delivery of strategic objectives and promote high performance within the Farming department.
  • Foster a business development culture to cultivate existing clients and attract new ones.
  • Manage own client relationships effectively.
  • Work with the Head of Rural to develop a culture of continuous process improvement through training, communication, and system development.
  • Achieve departmental budgets and reforecast as necessary.
  • Communicate financial information clearly to relevant team members.
  • Provide visionary and inspirational leadership.
  • Communicate and promote the company's vision within the rural and farming sectors.
  • Partner with leadership and HR to recruit and develop high-performing teams.
  • Inspire, coach, mentor, and identify future leaders and top talent.
  • Embed a business development ethos across the business line.
  • Model exemplary organizational behavior.
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator, highly numerate, adaptable, and flexible. They should possess extensive experience and knowledge in agriculture, capable of representing Strutt & Parker with credibility. The candidate will support and articulate the company's vision, creating clear plans to enhance performance and achieve measurable results.

Qualifications
  • Degree in an agricultural discipline.
  • MRICS qualification (preferred but not required).
  • CAAV qualification (preferred but not required).
  • BASIS and FACTS certifications (desirable but not required).
Experience
  • Proven track record in the Farming sector with strong consultancy and client management skills.
  • Experience in team leadership, inspiring teams to improve performance and profitability.
  • Strong market profile as a leader and new business developer.
  • Experience delivering presentations, reports, and commentary to diverse audiences including media, press, webinars, and podcasts.
