Job summary

Staffordshire County Council seeks a Head of Service – Family Help to lead and shape services for children, young people and families at the earliest opportunity. You will provide strategic leadership, drive high-quality practice and secure effective partnerships to deliver better outcomes.

This senior role requires a qualified and registered social worker with substantial management experience in children’s services, capable of steering change while ensuring safeguarding and governance

Qualifications

Qualified and registered Social Worker.
Proven ability to lead and manage teams in children’s social care or early help.
Experience in risk management within safeguarding contexts.

Responsibilities

Lead and shape Family Help services, ensuring timely, child-centred support.
Drive improvement, innovation and transformation programmes for early intervention.
Build and maintain partnerships with schools, health services, social care, police and community orgs.
Oversee quality assurance, safeguarding, and performance across services.
Lead, motivate and develop managers and teams with a culture of learning and accountability.
Manage budgets, resources and change programmes to sustain high-quality services.
