Head of Facilities

Role Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Head of Facilities to assist the Maintenance Manager with hands on general duties, safety, and operational efficiency of their sites. As part of a growing team, you will play a vital role in upholding the high standards that defines our client's brand. It's important to note that circa 60% of your working week will be visiting a growing number of sites throughout the country and the remainder at Head Office in Chipping Norton.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the ongoing upkeep, hands on repairs, maintenance, and improvement of their self-storage sites, ensuring buildings are safe, functional, and well-presented through effective coordination of works, contractors, and on-site repairs.
  • Manage and coordinate service contracts, maintenance schedules, inspections, and repairs across building systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety regulations, conducting regular site inspections and risk assessments.
  • Support and assist in the setup and maintenance of new sites as needed.
  • Implement and maintain robust facilities-related record-keeping and reporting systems.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in facilities management or ex-trades would be advantageous.
  • Strong hands-on experience in handyman duties, organising, coordinating, delivering building projects, maintenance work, and general property improvements. Ideally with a practical, solutions-focused approach to construction, repair, and upkeep.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, Health and Safety regulations, and facilities compliance requirements.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to other sites as needed.
  • Proficient in email and communication tools (e.g. Outlook, Gmail, Microsoft and Teams) - For internal and external communications.
  • Document Handling (Word, PDF) - To review and edit reports, safety documents, policies, etc.
  • Spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets) - For tracking budgets, maintenance schedules, and service contracts.
