Head of Event Operations - National Theatre
£50,000 per annum plus benefits

Purpose

As the Head of Event Operations, reporting directly to the Sales and Events Director, you will oversee the successful delivery of a wide range of internal and commercial events across multiple spaces within the National Theatre. You will drive results across KPIs, ensuring high standards of service, product consistency, and operational efficiency. You will champion team growth and development and support our sustainability goals, including our 2027 Net-Zero transition plan. Your leadership will set the stage for memorable events aligned with our values and mission.

Responsibilities
  1. Event Delivery – Oversee events, manage client communication, ensure compliance, and complete reporting.
  2. Team Management – Supervise staff, manage rotas, and lead training.
  3. Health & Safety – Conduct audits, update risk assessments, and oversee compliance.
  4. Equipment & Logistics – Maintain event equipment, coordinate logistics, and manage venue upkeep.
  5. Financial Oversight – Control labour costs, stock-takes, and event P&L.
  6. Stakeholder Management – Build relationships with partners, suppliers, and internal teams.
  7. Additional Support – Assist sales, drive revenue, and promote sustainability.
Requirements
  • Experience: Proven senior-level event management experience, preferably in cultural venues or hospitality.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills to inspire and develop teams, collaborating with cross-functional partners.
  • Organisation: Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills to manage logistics, staffing, and suppliers.
  • Flexibility: Ability to adapt and manage multiple events with agility, adjusting hours as needed.
  • Safety & Compliance: Knowledge of health and safety regulations to ensure a secure environment.
  • Financial Acumen: Experience managing budgets, including labour and stock control.
  • Innovation: Forward-thinking, always seeking process improvements and trend awareness.
