Job summary

Digitalvish is seeking a passionate Head of English for a 12-month contract to lead and manage the English department, ensuring high-quality teaching, effective use of resources, and improved learning outcomes for all students.

You will develop the curriculum, prepare students for 11+ exams, monitor progress, liaise with leadership, manage the department budget, and promote English through extracurricular activities.

Qualifications

• Teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent) is required.
• Experience leading a department is essential.
• Commitment to high professional standards and student achievement.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead the English curriculum for all pupils.
• Create a motivating learning environment with well-organized resources.
• Prepare students for 11+ exams and run extra sessions as needed.
• Maintain detailed records and liaise with the Headmistress regularly.
• Identify and support pupils with additional needs or those who require extension activities.
• Promote English through extra-curricular activities like book fairs and World Book Day events.
• Manage the department’s budget and use IT for lesson preparation and reporting.
