Job summary

Lift Broadlands, a small secondary school near Bath, invites applications for Head of English to drive excellent GCSE outcomes and support teachers to develop in a collaborative, knowledge-rich department.

You will lead a team of four English teachers, including an ITT placement, shape the curriculum, and work with senior leaders to raise achievement and create an inclusive, aspirational learning culture for all students.

Qualifications

• Must hold Qualified Teacher Status and a degree in English.
• Proven classroom teaching with strong GCSE results.
• Strong communication skills and ability to develop others.

Responsibilities

• Sit on the Senior Leadership Team and lead English across the school
• Set a clear vision for the department and drive a high-quality curriculum
• Support teachers through coaching, appraisals and feedback
• Design an ambitious, knowledge-rich English curriculum
• Use data to monitor progress and inform teaching improvements
• Collaborate with colleagues to create a connected learning experience
• Champion safeguarding, inclusion and high expectations
