JOB TITLE: Head of Engineering for the Service & Run Lab
SALARY: £121,023-142,380 per annum
LOCATION: Edinburgh or London
HOURS: Full-time – 35 hours
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at our Edinburgh or London office.
ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY…
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Head of Engineering within the Payments Services Platform at Lloyds Banking Group, to head up our Service and Run Lab, and lead the core service protection and recovery teams which operate 24hrs a day 365 days a year. This is an essential role ensuring we are providing safe, secure and compliant payments services to our customers and clients. Given the enterprise nature of Payments, this role is critical and therefore involves broader responsibilities across the wider Platform and Group.
WHAT YOU’LL DO…
Service Protection and Recovery: Leading core service protection and recovery teams that operate 24/7, ensuring the provision of safe, secure, and compliant payment services to customers and clients
Operational Resilience: Influencing the technical landscape for the future and driving forward the agenda of operational resilience, resilience by design, incident prevention, detection, and management
Service Management: Developing and implementing IT service management strategies aligned with the overall objectives of the organisation. This includes maintaining service across the payments estate and ensuring teams deliver changes safely with service protection and resilience at the heart of everything
Collaboration and Leadership: Playing a key role in broader responsibilities across the wider platform and group, influencing technical decisions, and driving transformative change
Change Governance: Governing change effectively within the payments technology environment, ensuring that all changes are aligned with strategic initiatives, industry standards and planned and managed with the upmost quality in order to protect service.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED…
To be considered for and successful in this role, you will need to be able to demonstrate the below:
Strong Engineering Leadership experience:
Extensive engineering leadership experience, providing oversight and technical leadership across multiple teams, ensuring service protection and continuous delivery at pace for customers and clients.
Visionary leader advocating for technology transformation and developing strategic solutions to long-term business needs by anticipating complex issues and opportunities.
Represented IT service management at a senior level, engaging key stakeholders, overseeing IT services delivery, ensuring high availability, performance, and stakeholder satisfaction.
Defined, documented, and continuously improved IT service management processes, managing risks including cyber security, and implementing continuous improvement in IT service delivery for efficient change management.
Represent the IT service management function at a senior level, engaging key stakeholders to understand their needs and address their concerns.
Team Development, Mentoring, Coaching:
Successful in building a high-performing team culture and in recognising and coaching talent.
A passion for team development; allowing colleagues to develop in different/new technologies and mature in ways of working, resulting in a successful team.
The ability to inspire delivery whilst encouraging simplicity and developing confidence and trust across the teams you lead.
And any experience of these would be really useful:
Previous experience within engineering in payments and/or within financial services would be advantageous but not essential
