Job summary

Moniepoint is seeking a Head of Engineering, Payment Gateway, to define the technical direction for Monnify and to scale the gateway platform internationally. You will own architecture, security and reliability while leading multiple engineering teams through managers, and align tech investments with business goals.

You will guide the developer experience, APIs, documentation and integration tooling, and drive multi-currency support as the platform expands beyond Nigeria into new markets.

Qualifications

• Over 10 years in software engineering with hands-on practice.
• At least 5 years leading engineering managers and teams.
• Experience in payments, fintech or financial services.
• Strong knowledge of API-first products and developer platforms.
• Backend expertise in high-throughput distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical strategy, architecture and roadmap for the platform across capabilities.
• Lead multiple engineering teams via managers; set quality standards.
• Own developer experience including APIs, docs and SDKs.
• Drive multi-currency, international scalability and platform evolution.
• Ensure reliability, security and compliance in a regulated environment.
• Partner with product, commercial and operations to align tech investments.
• Hire, mentor and grow engineering managers and senior engineers.
