Job summary
National Express are recruiting an experienced Head of Engineering to lead, control, and coordinate engineering operations across our London & Airports locations. The role links garage engineering teams with executive leadership to drive vehicle reliability and champion low/zero emission fleet initiatives.
You will be a pivotal partner to Operations and the 24/7 Control Room, ensuring safety, compliance, and optimal fleet presentation across sites.
Qualifications
- Holder of a National CPC for Bus and Coach Operations.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate engineering teams in a unionised environment.
- Experience in safety standards, MOT, Tax, LOLER, Tachograph calibrations and DVSA reporting.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage local garage engineering management, depot supervisors and teams across locations.
- Ensure vehicles are serviced to manufacturer and legal standards, with a focus on safety and compliance.
- Minimise Vehicle Off Road (VOR) times and breakdowns to maximise peak vehicle requirement.
- Control R&M contracts, oversee end-of-contract costs for leased/rented fleets, manage budgets.
