Job Title: Head of Engineering and Network Maintenance

Reporting to: Operations Director

Work Style: Site / Office - applicants to be within a 1-hour travel window please

The Role:

In this senior leadership role, you will ensure the installations and engineering department deliver to budget as well as set and meet KPIs to drive an exceptional customer experience.

The Head of Engineering and Network Maintenance will also be responsible for the end-to-end customer installation process, management of active network faults, and a network maintenance programme to ensure service stability across our active customer base.

  • Lead the Engineering and pre-enablement teams focusing on first-time installation
  • Implement a network maintenance programme to ensure 99% network stability
  • Manage operational and commercial aspects of third-party installation contracts within CPPC budget, monitoring and driving continuous improvement
  • Ensure business installations are completed within design and scope
  • Oversee Openreach and KCOM PIA processes, ensuring compliance with guidelines
  • Manage third-party strike claims appropriately
  • Provide on-call and out-of-hours support across the team
  • Drive efficiencies through system and process development, collaborating with internal development teams
  • Work with Service Desk to manage faults, delays, and onboarding issues
  • Report on KPIs and produce MI reports to evaluate performance
  • Ensure the engineering team works within H&S guidelines and maintains necessary accreditation
  • Create a motivated and engaged engineering and installations team
  • Recruit, coach, and develop colleagues aligned with business needs and personal growth
  • Participate as a member of the Senior Leadership Team to drive business improvements
  • Lead engineers in installation, fault management, and network maintenance tasks
  • Manage engineering budget to meet business forecasts
  • Collaborate with wholesale partners to support order intake and customer support
  • Serve as a key escalation point for customers and wholesale partners

About you:

  • Experience leading multiple teams in a senior leadership role within telecommunications
  • Experience implementing service improvement strategies
  • Ability to manage stakeholder relationships effectively
  • Proficiency in analysis and departmental representation at senior management levels
  • Analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues
  • Understanding of broadband network architecture and maintenance
  • Knowledge of civils and FTT installations
  • Awareness of H&S industry requirements
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Customer-centric approach
