Head of Engineering - Remote - £100,00 - £120,000

We’re an early-stage, venture-backed startup building developer tooling that makes it radically simpler and faster to create and deploy backend services. Our mission is to remove the friction from going from idea to production so developers can spend their time writing code, not managing infrastructure.

We’re now looking for a Head of Engineering to help us scale our team, define technical direction, and drive execution as we build the future of developer productivity.

What You’ll Do

Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of trust, speed, and technical excellence.
Define engineering processes, technical standards, and best practices to support rapid, reliable delivery.
Drive architectural decisions across a systems-level platform and cloud infrastructure.
Mentor engineers and help them progress in their careers.
Collaborate with product and leadership to shape the roadmap, balancing velocity with quality and security.
Stay hands-on where needed — from code reviews to architecture design.

What We’re Looking For

Proven experience leading engineering teams in a startup or high-growth environment.
Strong technical background, ideally in systems programming, distributed systems, or developer tooling.
The ability to read and ideally write code in Rust
Ability to scale engineering organisations while keeping agility and speed.
Deep knowledge of modern cloud infrastructure and developer experience.
Excellent communication skills, with a track record of close collaboration with product and leadership.
A genuine passion for building tools that make developers more productive.

Nice to Have

Hands-on experience with Rust or an interest in learning it.
Previous experience at a developer-first company or platform team.
Open-source contributions or involvement in engineering communities.
