Ventive is a dynamic, VC-backed company that specialises in intelligent & renewable Building Services, such as its intelligent Heat Pump systems that provide heating, hot water, cooling and fresh air. The company’s vision is to become the energy platform of modern buildings: creating comfortable and healthy internal environments without costing the Earth. The company has a successful track record in bringing innovative energy/ventilation technologies to market, and has assembled a supply chain for the design and launch of it’s new Heat pump.

Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Head of Engineering at Ventive Limited. The Head of Engineering will serve as a key member of the executive team, responsible for the technical vision, architecture, and delivery of innovative Heating and Ventilation solutions. This role requires hands-on leadership across hardware and software development, deep collaboration with product and operations teams, and the ability to build and inspire a growing high-performance engineering organisation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and launch of new HVAC products from prototype to mass production, ensuring performance, compliance, and reliability.
• Define and own the technical roadmap, system architecture, and product development strategy aligned with business goals.
• Drive innovation in energy-efficient and sustainable heating and ventilation technologies.
• Oversee R&D and IP strategy, including patents and partnerships.
• Work closely with the Board, Operations, Sales, and Marketing to deliver integrated solutions and meet go-to-market targets.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Electrical / Mechanical / Electronic Engineering or related field together with relevant engineering accreditations
• 10+ years of progressive engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
• Demonstrated experience bringing complex HVAC, energy systems, or IoT hardware products from concept to market.
• Strong foundation in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, controls, and system integration.
• Familiarity with product certification standards (e.g., UL, CE).
• Entrepreneurial mindset with experience in a startup or high-growth environment.
• Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and leadership skills.
• Extensive experienceinsafetyengineering, regulatorycompliance, or related roles with a focus on electro-mechanical and electronic systems
• Accountable and responsible for activities related to safetycase reports, hazard analysis, functional failure analysis, FTA, DFMEA, FMECA, reliability prediction, etc.
• Able to lead on the application of UK and internationalsystemengineering processes
• Responsible and accountable for product technical folder and ongoing compliance with all regulatory standards
• Responsible and accountable for issuing and maintaining system Declaration of Conformity (DoC)
• Providing technical vision for product design and approvingSafetyand Reliability requirements
• Accountable for overall system design definition, configuration control and design change management
• Responsible and accountablefor reviewing-approving technical drawings as well as models and analysis
• Able to comprehend and analysesystems down to unit and detailed design levels
• Experience in software projects (ideally within industrial IoT environment)
• In depth understanding of mathematical aspects ofSafetyand Reliabilityengineering, including statistics, probability theory, and mathematical modelling
• Contribute to improve Ventive quality system
• Good interpersonal and influencing skills and the ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team
• Proficiency in computer usage, MS pack and data processing
• Able to employ a logical approach to technical problem-solving and decision-making processes
• Cross-cultural awareness to navigate diverse team environments effectively
• Sound high value engineering experience and/or HVAC knowledge preferred
