About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Engineering / Engineering Manager to oversee the engineering function at our Meal Solutions site, Cavaghan & Grey. This key leadership role involves driving engineering excellence, managing capital projects, and leading a diverse engineering team.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Engineering Leadership: Provide strong leadership to ensure high-quality, reliable engineering support across all operations.
  2. Project Management: Oversee engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget.
  3. Capital Expenditure: Manage a multi-million CAPEX budget annually, prioritizing resource allocation for key projects.
  4. Preventative Maintenance (PPM): Develop and implement maintenance schedules to optimize equipment performance, minimize downtime, and ensure compliance.
  5. Team Management: Lead a team of 5-6 direct reports and 46 indirect reports, focusing on talent development and skillset alignment.

Key Skills
  • Degree-qualified in engineering or equivalent experience, including service leavers in engineering fields.
  • Minimum 2 years of engineering management experience, preferably in food manufacturing or regulated industries.
  • Proven leadership in motivating large engineering teams.
  • Strong technical expertise in plant operations, automation, and regulated environments.
  • Effective leadership, communication, and empathy skills.
  • Problem-solving ability to identify issues and implement solutions efficiently.
  • Experience in food manufacturing, food safety, plant engineering, automation, or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • BRC or similar food safety certification.
