This role can be delivered at one of the following sites: Ashton Vale, Bristol / Stoke Gifford, Bristol / Oakhanger, Hampshire / Corsham, Wiltshire / Tewksbury, Gloucestershire.

The Role
As the Head of Electronic and Communication Engineering, you’ll be responsible for leading a talented workforce and developing our talent pipeline in communication technology, including SatCom, Radio Frequency, and Networking Engineering across our Sense & Connect and Space Business Units.

You will lead and manage the Communication Technology Discipline, defining strategy, providing direction, and maintaining technical capabilities aligned with business needs.

  • Define and deliver the strategy for the Communication Technology Discipline.
  • Manage resources safely, securely, and cost-effectively.
  • Own and implement Communication Technology Processes, Policies, and Documentation.
  • Lead improvement activities to enhance performance.
  • Build strong relationships with delivery teams, stakeholders, and partners.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week, based in Bristol, Hampshire, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, with home working options.

Essential Experience

  • Extensive leadership experience in Communication, Network, and Technology teams.
  • Experience in talent pipeline development, training, and in-house talent growth.
  • Proven delivery and performance management skills, including budgeting.
  • Experience managing engineering programs and resources in complex organizations.
  • People management experience in large or complex organizations.
  • Discipline management or leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of HR policies, performance management, and disciplinary procedures.

Qualifications

  • Engineering Degree or equivalent technical experience (preferred).

Security Clearance
Must be a UK national able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance, with potential for Developed Vetting (DV).
