Join to apply for the Head of Economic Planning role at RPS.

RPS is looking for a Head of Economics to lead and grow our Economics Team. This is a key role within our National Development & Infrastructure Planning Team, collaborating with our Environment Division. You will work on a broad range of projects including new settlements, urban extensions, city development, business space, logistics, and renewable energy projects (solar and wind) across England, Scotland, and Wales.

What You Will Do

You will work on national development projects across the UK, building and mentoring a team, and developing their professional skills. Your role involves delivering diverse projects, developing client relationships, and securing new business. You will generate new and repeat business, provide consultancy advice, and support our submissions for frameworks and tenders.

Who We Are Looking For
  • Qualified MIED, IEMA, and/or RTPI
  • Experienced practitioner with expertise in economic impact and ES Socio Economic Chapter writing
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • Experience as an expert witness in Examinations in Public and Public Inquiries
  • People management experience
  • Strategic thinker with negotiation skills and a track record of achieving outcomes
  • Established market reputation with a record of winning sustainable projects
  • Financial and project management skills
  • Excellent influencing and communication skills for building relationships
