Job summary

Osborne Richardson is recruiting an Interim Head of Economic Development for a North London Local Authority. You will design regeneration strategies, drive master planning and a pipeline of projects to boost growth, investment and jobs.

The role requires extensive public-sector economic development experience, strong partnership work with LEPs and local businesses, and the ability to oversee commissioned work and community wealth building. Hybrid working is offered.

Job description

Osborne Richardson has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Interim Head of Economic Development, to join a Local Authority based in North London for a contract role. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Regeneration you will be responsible for driving forward our client's economic growth to ensure that development, investment and job creation happen and that all communities in the borough enjoy the benefits.

You will design and develop regeneration and economic strategy, driving delivery of borough-wide regeneration and economic strategy, master planning and developing a regeneration pipeline that boosts economic growth and the borough’s wider placemaking ambitions. The role will have a lead on developing strategic partnerships with the borough’s business base, including Business Improvement Districts and Community Improvement Districts, sub-regional and pan-London partnerships that leverage inward investment and boost economic growth for key opportunity areas, including the borough’s High Streets and Town Centres.

You will also be responsible for championing innovation, supporting the growth of key sectors and ensuring our clients economy is fair, vibrant and well positioned for future challenges. By providing expert insight, strategic leadership and operational oversight, the Head of Economic Development will play a pivotal role in improving prosperity and opportunity for residents and businesses across the borough.

Applicants for this position must have significant experience of economic development and regeneration initiatives in the public sector, strong experience of engaging local businesses and LEP's, of working with partner organisations and of project delivery. You must be able to develop, manage and oversee a proactive and strategic approach to commissioned work and community wealth building.

This will be a 6 month rolling contract. The rate offered will be circa £580/day Umbrella and this role is inside IR35.
