Head of Drama – Head of Department

We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled Drama teacher to join a thriving school. The Head of Drama / Head of Department plays a key role in ensuring the Drama programmes meet statutory requirements, provide appropriate pace and challenge, and include regular assessment and review. Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the smooth and effective running of the department, including supporting trainee teachers and ECTs.
  • Supporting the delivery of a Department Improvement Plan aligned with the School Improvement Plan.
  • Having a strong understanding of the structure and sequencing of the Drama curriculum from Year 7 to Year 11 and into Key Stage 5.
  • Providing inspirational leadership to the department.
  • Leading curriculum implementation through the embedding of Rosenshine Principles and Teach Like A Champion techniques.
  • Maintaining strong links with families to support student learning.
  • Ensuring accessibility of the subject to students of all abilities.
  • Providing a strong extra-curricular programme leading to performances.
  • Collaborating with the Music department to showcase the Performing Arts.
