Job description

Head of Distribution (3PL)

£70,000 – £80,000 DOE | Onsite 5 days

About the Role

We’re searching for an experienced Distribution Centre Manager to lead a high-volume operation serving B2C, B2B, and retail customers. You’ll be responsible for the end-to-end flow of goods through this semi automated site — from inbound to outbound — ensuring service levels are met, costs are controlled, and customers receive an exceptional experience.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll be visible on the floor, supporting your managers, coaching your teams, and driving improvements across people, processes, and systems. You’ll balance operational detail with strategic oversight, ensuring the DC is set up to meet both daily targets and long-term growth ambitions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee multiple site operations, including goods-in, inventory control, picking, packing, shipping, returns, and quality assurance.
  • Lead and develop a skilled management team across B2C, B2B, and retail fulfilment streams.
  • Maintain high service levels while optimising productivity, cost control, and resource planning.
  • Work closely with commercial, supply chain, and customer service teams to ensure seamless order fulfilment.
  • Implement and monitor KPIs to track operational performance and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Champion a safe working environment and ensure compliance with all health & safety and quality standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects to increase efficiency and support future growth.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven leadership in a large-scale distribution, fulfilment, or warehouse environment.
  • Experience managing multi-channel operations (B2C, B2B, and retail).
  • Strong understanding of WMS and related warehouse technologies.
  • Track record of delivering operational improvements and hitting ambitious KPIs.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to engage effectively from shop floor to boardroom.
  • A hands-on leader with a proactive approach, commercial awareness, and problem-solving mindset.

What’s on Offer

  • Competitive salary of £70,000 – £80,000 per annum DOE.
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays.
  • Pension scheme.
  • Career progression opportunities within a growing organisation.
  • The chance to lead a pivotal site in a multi-channel operation with significant growth plans.

This role is based in Kent, with travel to the other UK sites. (Mon-Fri operations)
