Description
The Head of Digital Simulation & CAE is accountable for defining and delivering the strategic direction of all virtual development and simulation activities in support of the vehicle engineering function. This role ensures the deployment of best-in-class digital twin methodologies across a wide range of simulation domains critical to the design, development and validation of high-performance vehicles.

Responsibilities
- Define and execute the CAE strategy across all simulation domains in line with vehicle performance, timing, and cost goals.
- Lead the development and implementation of digital twin methodologies to accelerate vehicle development and enhance correlation with physical testing.
- Oversee simulation activities including crashworthiness, structural stiffness, NVH, aerodynamics, thermal management, vehicle dynamics, and material modeling.
- Manage full vehicle and subsystem FE model development, load case definition, solver execution, post-processing, and feedback integration.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed simulation into the vehicle development process.
- Select and deploy advanced simulation tools and workflows for maximum efficiency.
- Develop validation plans to ensure simulation accuracy and correlation with physical tests.
- Mentor and lead the CAE team, fostering innovation and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with external suppliers and consultants to meet quality standards.
- Align CAE strategies with business objectives and program timelines.
- Drive R&D projects focusing on emerging simulation technologies like AI/ML and real-time simulation.
Qualifications & Skills
- Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace Engineering or related field (BSc minimum, MSc/PhD preferred).
- Over 10 years of experience in automotive or motorsport simulation, especially in high-performance vehicle programs.
- Leadership experience managing simulation teams or departments.
- Expertise in structural analysis, crashworthiness, durability, and multi-physics CAE methods.
- Proficiency with software such as HyperWorks, LS-DYNA, Abaqus, CFD tools, and DiL environments.
- Knowledge of composite and metallic materials from a simulation perspective.
- Ability to interpret and correlate simulation and physical test data effectively.
- Experience supporting full product development lifecycle.
- Strong leadership, communication, and collaborative skills.
