Job description

# Head of Digital PR - Absolute Digital Media**£55,000 - £60,000 • Absolute Digital Media • Remote, UK-based****The opportunity**This is a chance to build something. Absolute Digital Media already delivers digital PR for clients, and we have won awards for our wider search work, including Silver for Integrated Agency of the Year at the European Search Awards 2026. We now need someone to take full responsibility and ownership for where we go next.We are a digital marketing agency specialising in regulated industries, including iGaming, financial services and healthcare. We have been operating since 2008 and are in the middle of a significant transformation, investing in growth across the UK, the Middle East and Southeast Asia, with the aim of doubling ARR over the next two to three years. You will come in, take ownership of our existing digital PR clients and deliver for them from day one. Alongside that, you will design how the department works, decide what we sell and how we price it, hire the team as the book grows, and turn digital PR into a service line that clients buy on its own merit and that strengthens everything else we do in search. Our ambition is simple: to be one of the strongest digital PR agencies in the UK, known for campaigns that land top-tier coverage, earn links that move rankings, and make brands visible in AI search. We want the person in this seat to be the reason that happens.**What we are looking for:** a proven digital PR lead who still loves doing the work. Someone with a portfolio of campaigns they can talk about in detail, strong relationships with journalists, and the ambition to build a department rather than inherit one. You should be as comfortable pitching a national news desk as you are presenting results to a client board, and you should want your work, and Absolute's, to be on the shortlist every awards season.**What you will do**1. **Own and deliver for our digital PR clients.** Take full ownership of existing digital PR accounts: strategy, ideation, outreach, reporting and the client relationship. You are the senior point of contact and the person accountable for results.2. **Create campaigns that land.** Lead ideation and deliver data-led, creative and reactive campaigns that earn coverage in national, regional and trade press, and the high-authority links that come with it.3. **Build the department.** Design how digital PR works at Absolute: the processes, workflows, quality standards, reporting templates and tool stack. You will choose the tools you need and make the case for them.4. **Grow the team.** As the client book grows, you will shape the hiring plan, recruit the right people, and develop them. That may include UK and offshore team members, and specialist freelance support such as data.5. **Join PR up with search.** Work closely with our SEO, content and link building teams so that digital PR supports organic performance. That means targeting the right pages, earning links that matter, and building the brand signals that help clients appear in AI assistants and AI search results.6. **Grow the service line commercially.** Shape how we package and price digital PR, identify opportunities within our existing SEO client base, support new business pitches and help close deals. Your portfolio and credibility will be a direct reason prospects choose Absolute.7. **Raise Absolute's own profile.** Support our brand ambitions. Help get Absolute talked about through our own PR, awards entries, thought leadership, speaking and LinkedIn. You will be a visible face of the agency in the digital PR community.8. **Lead the awards strategy for PR.** Identify the campaigns worth entering, write entries that win, and help build a track record that puts Absolute on shortlists across the major UK search and PR awards.9. **Prove the value.** Report on what matters to clients: coverage quality, links earned, referral traffic, brand search and visibility, and the impact on organic performance. You will set the standard for how we measure and present results.10. **Stay ahead of the industry.** Track changes in journalism, the news cycle, search and AI discovery, and bring new ideas and formats to clients before they ask for them.**Who you are*** You have at least 5 to 7 years of digital PR experience, with time at senior or lead level in an agency environment.* You have a portfolio of campaigns you have led, with coverage in national and top-tier titles, and you can explain the thinking, the outreach and the results behind each one.* You have owned client relationships and retained clients. You know how to manage expectations, report with confidence and grow an account.* You have strong, current journalist relationships and know how newsrooms work today.* You understand SEO well enough to make PR work for search: which links matter, how to target pages, and how authority and brand signals support organic and AI visibility.* You have built or helped build a team, a process or a service, and you want to do it again on your own terms.* You are commercially minded. You understand how agency margins work, how to scope and price PR, and how to spot opportunities to grow a client.* You have experience in regulated (or hard-to-pitch) sectors such as iGaming, financial services or healthcare. This is not essential, but it is a significant advantage given our specialism.* Award-winning or shortlisted campaign work is a strong plus, as is an active industry profile through speaking, writing or LinkedIn.* You are a strong writer. Press releases, pitches, client reports and awards entries all need to be sharp, clear and persuasive.* You have energy and ambition. This is a build role, and we want someone who is excited by the blank page rather than daunted by it.**Why regulated industries matter**Many of our clients operate in sectors where the wrong story or the wrong claim does real damage. Gambling brands need to stay inside advertising codes and responsible gambling expectations. Financial services clients must comply with FCA rules on financial promotions. Healthcare content has to be accurate and carefully worded. In digital PR that changes how you work. Some publications and journalists will not cover certain sectors, some angles are off the table, and every campaign needs to be checked for compliance before it goes out. Getting coverage for these clients takes more creativity, not less. This is our competitive advantage. Most agencies avoid these sectors because they are complicated. We specialise in them. If you have worked in them before, you already know what that means. If you have not, you will need to learn quickly, and we will support you.**What success looks like**We will agree specific targets with you when you join. As a guide, this is what we expect the first year to look like.**What good looks like**First 30 daysOwn and stabilise our existing digital PR clients, deliver first campaigns under your leadership, audit how we work today, and set out your plan for processes, tools and reporting.1-3 monthsDepartment processes and reporting in place, a clear service and pricing model agreed, digital PR sold into existing SEO clients, and a pipeline of new opportunities built with the sales team.6 monthsA growing client book, a hiring plan in motion, campaigns we are proud to enter for awards, and Absolute recognised as a credible digital PR agency in the UK market.**What we offer*** £55,000 to £60,000 base salary depending on experience* Fully remote working* Ownership of a service line, with the freedom to shape how it is built* Direct access to the Managing Director and a real say in the direction of the agency* Budget for the tools you need to do the job properly* Support for awards entries, speaking and industry events* Award-winning SEO, content and design teams to work alongside**How to apply**Send your CV and a short note explaining why this role interests you to careers@absolute.digital. We do not need a full cover letter. A few lines on what you would bring and why now is the right time is enough. Please include links to two or three campaigns you have led, with a line on your role in each. We are more interested in what you have done than where you have worked. No agencies. Direct applications only.
