Job summary

Dorset Council is seeking a Chief Digital and Data Officer to lead our broad digital, data and technology service and shape how data, insight, automation and AI improve services for residents. You will build capability, set direction and influence cross‑council teams to turn ambition into practical change.

You will lead the strategy for data governance, analytics and enterprise architecture, ensuring inclusive digital services and robust cyber security across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Experience leading digital, data or technology teams in a large organisation.
• Ability to set direction, develop people and work across boundaries.
• Knowledge of data governance, architecture, analytics and information management.
• Understanding cyber security risk and information governance.
• Experience managing technology contracts and supplier relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Digital, Data and Technology service and its management team.
• Drive the future DDaT strategy and governance across the council.
• Provide professional advice to senior leaders and elected members.
• Develop standards for data ownership, reuse and accessibility.
• Improve security, resilience and sustainability of technology.
