The Opportunity

The care sector is being transformed by technology and design, and we’re looking for a Head of Design to elevate our product and brand experiences to the next level. You’ll oversee the full spectrum of design at Lottie — from the marketplace experience and SaaS tools to our brand identity and marketing touchpoints. That means everything from the visual polish of our B2C marketplace, to the usability of our SaaS platform, to the consistency of our brand. You’ll line manage a talented team of three (two product designers and one brand designer) while also staying hands-on yourself: setting the visual direction, pushing craft standards higher, and shaping the processes that let design thrive at scale. You’ll be a core partner to Product and Engineering in defining how families, care providers, and partners experience Lottie.

What does this role involve?

  • Leading and mentoring our design team (currently three) while staying actively hands-on in design.
  • Setting the bar for visual excellence across Lottie.org, Found OS and our brand identity.
  • Owning end-to-end design delivery, from user research and flows to pixel-perfect execution.
  • Establishing scalable design systems and processes that balance velocity with craft.
  • Collaborating cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Account Management, and Customer Care to design experiences that help families find the right care, and create intuitive operational systems for care providers.
  • Advocating for design’s role in shaping product and company strategy.
What problems will you be solving?
  • Designing end-to-end experiences that help families confidently find care today, while actively building towards an AI-powered care placement marketplace that seamlessly connects families and providers.
  • Building intuitive, efficient tools in Found OS that take the complexity out of enquiries, occupancy, and billing — freeing care providers to focus more on residents and less on admin.
  • Creating a unified visual language that works across consumer, SaaS, and brand.
  • Embedding design into cross-functional prioritisation so user needs shape business decisions.
We think you’ll be a great fit if…
  • You have a portfolio of shipped products that showcase outstanding visual craft, measurable business impact, and set a high bar for visual excellence.
  • You’ve led designers in a high-growth environment, and enjoy coaching designers to do the best work of their careers.
  • You’re equally comfortable at the pixels and the principles — hands-on design and exec-level advocacy.
  • You thrive in cross-functional teams and can influence Product, Engineering, and Marketing peers.
  • You care deeply about creating experiences that help families find the right care, and tools that help providers spend more time with residents, less on admin.
  • You care deeply about user experience and mission-driven work.

Sound like you but not quite 100%? Apply anyway - we’re looking for potential and passion, not perfect CV match!

This role isn’t for you if…

  • You prefer directing over designing — this role requires you to stay hands-on.
  • You’re uncomfortable working in fast-paced, high-growth environments with ambiguity.
  • You’re looking for a purely brand or purely UX role — this covers full-spectrum design.
  • Our mission to elevate later life doesn’t resonate with you.

Candidate Experience
  • Pre-Screen & First Interview: You’ll receive an email notification, but no specific feedback will be provided at this stage.

  • Case Study: If you are not successful after the case study, you\'ll receive constructive feedback via email and be offered a debrief call with our Talent Lead.
