Job summary

Northumbrian Water Group is seeking a Head of Delivery - Major Projects to provide strategic direction for the Capital Delivery function. You will lead large, complex programme delivery and manage a £300M/annum capital plan, including partner management and cross‑functional collaboration.

Reporting to the Assets Director, the role requires senior leadership across engineering, construction, project management and programme management, with a proven track record of improving delivery efficiency

Responsibilities

  • Set cross‑functional performance targets for distributed project teams across the lifecycle.

About the role

We have a fantastic new opportunity here at Northumbrian Water Group for a Head of Delivery - Major Projects. Reporting directly to the Assets Director, this role provides strategic direction and leadership for a Capital Delivery function - Major Projects.

In this role, you will provide company-wide excellence in large scale highly complex project and programme delivery and have overall accountability for managing and continuously improving the delivery efficiency for a capital plan of £300M/annum, including the management of partners.

You will be accountable for business-wide delivery strategies and will set stretching performance targets for multiple functions of geographically dispersed, programme and project teams. Covering the entire project lifecycle, this role has a direct impact on business-wide performance outcomes and attainment of strategic company objectives.

This role requires an ability to drive effective collaboration and matrix management, promoting the application of innovation, industry best practice and delivery approaches.

About you

If you have proven experience as a strategic leader and can evidence an ability to drive performance from large geographically dispersed teams of both multiple and diverse disciplines, we would love to hear from you!

You will have an in-depth understanding of the principles of the construction process and appreciation of the technical disciplines applied in the creation, operation and maintenance of assets. You will have full understanding of all regulatory and legislative requirements to deliver functional activities.

Your experience will be at a senior leadership or management level, involving multidisciplinary, professional and technical staff. You will have experience leading engineering, construction, project management and programme management teams, with the ability to manage and influence stakeholders, peers and personnel at all levels.

You will be educated to degree level or equivalent in a leadership, management, engineering or business-related subject and have demonstrable relevant experience or chartership in a professional institution.
