About The Role
As Head of Delivery Engineering, you’ll lead the engineering delivery function for the Scotland and North England region, overseeing the successful execution of high-value infrastructure projects exceeding £300mn. This role is critical to ensure that engineering projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with regulatory and performance standards.
You’ll manage a multi-disciplinary team and be responsible for the full lifecycle of engineering projects, from planning and design through to execution and completion. Working closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, you’ll drive innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence across the engineering function.
You’ll lead and mentor the engineering delivery team, ensuring high performance, capability development, and alignment with strategic goals. Your leadership will be instrumental in delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards.
You’ll develop and implement strategies for resource allocation, capacity planning, and risk management, ensuring that engineering operations are efficient and resilient. You’ll also be responsible for managing the department’s budget and identifying opportunities for cost optimisation.
Collaboration will be key to your success. You’ll work with stakeholders across operations, maintenance, and external contractors to ensure seamless project integration. You’ll also play a key role in driving digital transformation, embedding modern tools and technologies into engineering delivery.
What we are looking for
To be successful in this role, you'll be an experienced engineering leader with a strong background in delivering large-scale infrastructure projects, ideally within the energy or utilities sector. With a degree in engineering, you bring leadership experience and a deep understanding of engineering principles and project management methodologies.
You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams. Your leadership style fosters innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
You’re financially astute, with experience managing large budgets and driving cost-effective delivery. You’re also committed to safety, quality, and sustainability, and ideally hold Chartered Engineer status or membership with a relevant professional body.
