Job summary

Prism Digital in London is seeking a Head of Digital and Data to own data strategy and analytics across the organisation. You will build dashboards in Power BI, guide Databricks implementation, and manage a team of five while overseeing vendor relationships and budget (£500k-£750k).

The role reports to the CEO, sits on the senior leadership team, and offers a hybrid working pattern with two days in-office at King's Cross.

Qualifications

Head of Digital and Data | Databricks, Power BI + People Management | National Advice Body Reaching Over a Million People a Year

• Salary: up to £80,000, plus a 10% non-contributory pension
• Location: London (King's Cross), hybrid, two days a week in the office
• Reporting line: direct to the Chief Executive, with a seat on the senior leadership team

I'm working with a national advice body, wholly independent but funded by central government. It's a great size with 50 employees so you can make a real impact to the biz. Whilst this organisaon works with and is funded by the government, it's a very much has its own identity and has a very commercially/private sector-minded CEO.

This is a newly created role that the CEO has architected and now you can fulfil this vision! This role will encompass three core duties:

• Own Data - i.e. data platforms, software, strategy and process - you are responsible for all data strategy in the biz
• Manage a team of 5 inc. product, research and data specialists
• Have responsibility for the software and IT vendors the business uses i.e. Zendesk, an MSP etc.

What They're Looking For (Non-Negotiables)

• Power BI: hands-on, building and owning the dashboards yourself
• Databricks: delivered on it, ideally Azure Databricks as it is likely that this will be implemented soon and you will manage that implementation via a consultancy
• Cloud data platform: you've implemented one end to end
• Vendor management: service level agreements (SLAs), contracts, holding suppliers to what they sold you
• Budget ownership: in this role you'll manager £500-750k
• Regulation awareness i.e. UK GDPR and data sharing: confident and proportionate about it
• Cyber security: enough working knowledge to hold your suppliers and your team to account

What You'll Work With

• Azure: the analytics stack across the estate
• Zendesk: coming in as the CRM, with reporting to build off it
• AI chatbot: consumer-facing, grounded in verified legal content
• Online calculators and self-service tools used by the public
• Partner data feeds from national government bodies, arriving via Databricks
• An outsourced IT provider, plus a spread of delivery consultancies
• Legacy databases and spreadsheets you get to retire

Nice to Haves

• Public sector or regulated experience: useful, not required - but you must be happy to work with public sector partners
• Published insight, research or statistics programmes
• Team design: you have reshaped a function, not only staffed one
• IT outsourcing: bringing a managed service back in-house or moving it on
• Cloud or data certification (Azure, Databricks)

Why Join / Projects

You'll join a leadership team the CEO is building himself, and he'll be managing you directly. You will own the data, reporting and analytics and be the expert on it for the whole organisation; manage and shape the team; and run the technology suppliers, from the managed service provider to the platform vendors.

You'll pull years of historic questionnaire and enquiry data into one place, ingest data from national partner organisations, and turn it into analysis nobody else in the sector has. There are large budgets available for you to fulfil the role: the budget has been consistently underspent, and the constraint has been delivery pace rather than funding.

The CEO moves fast, gets technical when he needs to, and has no appetite for process theatre or long procurement cycles. If you like heavy governance, this one won't suit you! You'll also inherit a function that needs reshaping, so you will be expected to have good experience and gravitas in your management style.
