Nothing, founded in London, is redefining how technology feels by embedding design, emotion and human creativity into its data-driven products. You will build and own the data layer across multiple source systems, driving end-to-end architecture and cost-aware implementation.

As a senior contributor, you will collaborate with product, supply chain, finance and commercial teams to ensure high-quality data outputs and scalable pipelines, shaping the future of Nothing's internal data brain.

Qualifications

• Hands-on coding and pipeline building experience.
• Experience in hybrid hardware/software or scaling fintechs.
• Fluency in agentic and LLM workflows.
• Commercial focus on decisions and cost management.
• Judgement on when to build robust architecture vs scrappy pipelines.
• Experience connecting disparate systems (ERP, HRIS, telemetry).
• Senior IC capable of collaborating in a team.

Responsabilités

• Map Nothing's data use cases and identify where data can impact decisions.
• Design and build the data layer connecting source systems into a trusted foundation.
• Own end-to-end architecture and drive implementation; ensure reliable shipping.
• Monitor cloud and tooling spend, forecast costs, and optimize for cost per user.
• Coordinate cross-use-case work to avoid hacks and over-engineering.
• Develop a clean, normalized data foundation for future workflows.
• Define data quality standards and documentation for usability.

About the Team

Nothing's data function is at its starting point. Our source systems are inherited and stay; the data layer that joins them is yours to design. You'll work with leaders across product, supply chain, commercial and finance to decide where data moves the needle first, then build it yourself.

What You'll Do

• Map Nothing's highest-priority data use cases in your first 30-60 days by interviewing cross-functional leaders and diagnosing where data can move the needle fastest

• Design and build the data layer that connects our source systems into one trusted foundation

• Own the architecture end-to-end; you write the code, you make the tooling calls, you're accountable for what ships

• Own the cost efficiency of the data platform: track cloud and tooling spend, forecast COGS, and build with cost-per-user in mind from day one

• Group technical overlaps across use cases into a pragmatic build sequence; no isolated hacks, no over-engineered warehouses

• Build the data foundation clean and normalised enough to eventually power an internal company brain and agentic workflows

• Define what "good data" looks like at Nothing: standards, quality controls, and documentation that make it usable by others

What We're Looking For

• Deep hands-on engineering skill: you write code and build pipelines yourself, you don't just direct others

• A track record in complex environments: hybrid hardware/software companies, scaling fintechs, or similarly messy multi-system organisations

• Fluency in modern agentic and LLM workflows, with a clear view of what AI needs from a data layer to work reliably

• Commercial instincts: you frame your work in terms of decisions enabled and cost managed, not rows processed

• Judgement about when to build robust architecture and when a scrappier pipeline is the right call today

• Experience connecting disparate systems: ERP, HRIS, mobile telemetry, operational trackers into clean, reliable outputs

• Comfort operating as a senior individual contributor; but also can thrive with as part of a larger team of peers

How We Work

• Location: London (Kings Cross)

• Working Pattern: Full-time, in-office, five days a week. We can work around personal needs where it makes sense, but being together is how we do our best work.

• Commute: We ask that you live within a 60-minute commute of your office.
