The Company

I am working with a leading agricultural research and knowledge-exchange organisation, dedicated to supporting UK growers through cutting edge research and practical advice. Their work helps farmers boost crop performance, adopt innovative practices and stay ahead in an evolving industry. They pride themselves on turning scientific research into actionable insights that drive real improvements on farm.

What You Will Be Doing

As Head of Crop Performance, you will lead the grower engagement programme, bringing research to life for farmers, agronomists and industry stakeholders. Your role will involve:

  • Designing and delivering an annual programme of events, including conferences, workshops, field days, digital content, and press releases.
  • Translating complex research findings into clear, actionable messages for growers and industry professionals.
  • Using on farm trials and case studies to support knowledge exchange and evidence based decision making.
  • Presenting insights to stakeholder committees and representing the organisation at national and international events.
  • Mentoring and supporting colleagues to build their skills in multimedia communication.
  • Shaping the long-term strategy for knowledge exchange, reviewing engagement methods, identifying funding opportunities, and driving continuous improvement.

What You Need

I am looking for an experienced professional with:

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage different audiences through a variety of multimedia channels (for example, video, podcasts, digital content, and live presentations).
  • Strong general agricultural knowledge and an understanding of UK cropping systems.
  • Proven ability to translate scientific research into practical advice for a range of audiences.
  • Team leadership experience, including coaching and performance management.
  • Solid financial and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and networking skills, with confidence presenting to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong attention to detail.
  • A degree in a scientific discipline, communications or a marketing qualification would be an advantage. Knowledge of crop agronomy, and experience of delivering knowledge exchange at industry events, would be desirable.
