Job summary

Exeter City Council is seeking a Corporate Health & Safety Manager to lead the organisation's health and safety strategy, ensure statutory compliance and promote a proactive safety culture across services.

You'll provide authoritative advice to Senior Management Board, develop standards, oversee audits, and drive continuous improvement. The role covers training program elements, risk assessment, incident investigations and collaboration with regulators and unions.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in health and safety management.
• Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and risk management.
• Ability to translate legislation into practical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead on health and safety strategy across the council.
• Develop and monitor standards, audits and performance reporting.
• Contribute to corporate training programme and safety competencies.
• Oversee DSE assessments, lone working, and safety initiatives.
