Job description

We are currently recruiting a head of content for a 12 month fixed term contract. This role leads the strategic direction and execution of content across digital, print, events, and marketing platforms. This role manages editorial and marketing teams, oversees high-impact content production, drives audience and subscriber growth, and ensures alignment between content strategy and broader business goals. The ideal candidate will bring a strong editorial vision, leadership skills, and commercial awareness within a B2B publishing environment.

Responsibilities:

Strategic leadership

  • Develop and implement the overall content and marketing strategy aligned with business objectives and audience needs.
  • Line manage editorial and marketing teams with dotted-line responsibility for product, events, and commercial input.
  • Collaborate with marketing, product, sales, and events teams to ensure cross-functional alignment.
  • Recruit, onboard, mentor, and manage staff performance, including annual targets and development goals.

Editorial oversight

  • Lead and manage the editorial calendar across platforms including digital, print, newsletters, and events.
  • Uphold editorial quality, tone of voice, legal compliance, and brand standards.
  • Approve high-impact content such as features, reports, whitepapers, interviews, and sponsored editorial.
  • Manage all print operations including data distribution, deadlines, cover design, and proofing.
  • Compile recurring content such as the EGR Power Rankings and all data partnerships.
  • Manage freelance contributors, external agreements, and internal contributors.
  • Oversee branded and sponsored content, ensuring editorial independence and commercial success.
  • Deliver monthly content and performance reports to the CFO and senior leadership.


Marketing oversight

· Lead content, sponsored content, and subscription marketing, as well as social media strategy.

  • Oversee planning and execution of marketing campaigns, ensuring strategic focus and brand consistency.
  • Use Google Analytics and other tools to monitor subscription revenue, web traffic, and user engagement.
  • Report on content and marketing performance, including sponsored content and advertising ROI.

Events oversight

  • Chair panels, host fireside chats, and represent the brand at events and industry functions.
  • Oversee awards content, category development, judging processes, and regulatory compliance.
  • Contribute to new event launches, content themes, and delegate strategies.
  • Proof event materials, websites, and social posts for brand and editorial consistency.
  • Proven experience in a senior editorial or content leadership role within B2B media or publishing, ideally in features or long-form content.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills across editorial and marketing functions, with a transformational and positive approach to team development.
  • Excellent editorial judgment, attention to detail, and understanding of compliance standards.
  • Strategic thinker with strong decision-making, accountability, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Confident communicator and experienced moderator for events and interviews.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently.
  • Commercially aware, with a track record of balancing audience value and revenue goals.
  • An understanding of the online gambling industry would be beneficial
