Job description

The Construction Industry Practices Manager is a new global leadership role that harnesses Chubb's existing strong interest in the Construction business, integrating our capabilities to create a more consistent and powerful proposition for Construction clients.

The individual will be responsible for the Property & Casualty (P&C) proposition across target lines of business, collaborating with line of business heads to develop an integrated product and service delivery through specialist underwriting processes and expertise, supported by specific technology development for Construction clients across all COG regions.

The role reports to Alex Forrest, Head of Middle-Market and Industry Practices, COG P&C, with dotted lines to each Line of Business head in the target Lines of Business.

The responsibilities include:

  1. Defining the Practice, best practices, and operating procedures.
  2. Serving as the distribution contact point for construction-related business across multiple lines, consolidating reports, thought leadership, and cross-line solutions.
  3. Working with Line of Business leaders to develop underwriting strategies that deliver top and bottom-line results.
  4. Collaborating on resourcing models to support specialized field underwriting.
  5. Supporting field underwriting and data management, including interactions with Risk Engineering and Claims to incorporate their data into underwriting processes.
  6. Driving technology implementations to streamline internal and external journeys, including no-touch underwriting solutions and broker-led facilities.
  7. Coaching and leading Regional Managers in the Construction Industry Practices, assisting with strategic development and operational milestones.
  8. Delegating authority to regional multi-line construction field underwriters where appropriate.
  9. Coordinating across Risk Engineering, Claims, and Marketing for Construction needs.
  10. Delivering strategic plans and forecasts in collaboration with Finance, Line of Business, and Regional Management.
  11. Leading new product development, including technical input and managing delivery across technical, marketing, training, and compliance aspects.
  12. Preparing and presenting Strategic and Portfolio Review materials at regional and COG levels.
  13. Managing audit requirements related to construction business.
  14. Assisting with reinsurance treaty renewals, including data preparation and liaising with reinsurance partners.
  15. Developing and deploying technical training programs and conducting 1:1 training sessions.
  16. Collaborating with the insurance market, customers, and Industry Associations.
  17. Creating thought leadership articles for internal and external distribution.
  18. Managing the referral matrix and supporting regional growth of the Industry Practice.

Qualifications required include an insurance certification and a university degree. Relevant experience encompasses CAR/EAR, Casualty, EIL, PI, Marine, and Cyber lines in underwriting or broking, with knowledge of reinsurance markets and treaty structures. Experience in portfolio management, servicing multinational insurance programs, strategic planning, and deploying training programs is essential. The candidate should be solution-minded, capable of managing workloads and priorities effectively, especially in highly service-driven roles.
