A leading global company is seeking a Head of Construction for their new Gigafactory project in Sunderland. AESC are looking for a Head of Construction to work on large scale ground-up Engineering-Procurement-Construction project that requires exceptional talent.

Key activities:

• Lead day-to-day activities of construction phase managing Stakeholders, Contractors and Sub-Contractors.
• Develop and manage a team to execute project scope including Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Process
• Coordinate all contractors’ activities and lead resolution of field construction problems
• Communicates/liaise with operations during system installation and commissioning
• Coach and mentor counterparts and subordinates on excellence in the construction industry
• Foster an innovative environment amongst your team's and those within the EPC contractor to help AESC succeed in accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy
• Provide strategic input into the construction organization, setting your teams future up for growth and success
• Identify construction-related risks and develop mitigation plans
• Identify and track potential field change orders
• Identify potential claims or disputes
• Document all field activities
• Develop construction quality plans and safety plans in conjunction with QA/QC and safety managers
• Secure resources to support construction supervision and implementation of safety plan
• Participate during contracting strategy development and contractor selection
• Review contractors’ deliverables and compliance with plans and specifications
• When Project Director not at site, be the single point of contact with contractors and local stakeholders

Requirements:

• Have at least 15 years of experience working for global leading companies in supervising and managing the construction of large industrial projects (500m+ capex)
• Advanced knowledge and proven delivery on Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Process scopes
• Knowledge of COMAH sites is an advantage
• Ability to work within a high-performance, cross-functional organization with challenging timelines and goals
• Have an inquisitive and open attitude to exploring new ideas and willingness to continuously learn
• Ability to train and mentor colleagues on best practices for project management and execution
• Driving license
