Job description

Contract: Full Time Time, Permanent

Salary: MPS / UPS + TLR (depending upon experience)

Location: Corby Business Academy

Closing Date: Monday 12 October 2026, 9:00am

Interview Date: TBC

Are you an aspiring or experienced subject leader looking for the opportunity to lead an established and successful Computer Science department? Are you excited by the prospect of working with a motivated team to help students achieve their full potential?

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a highly successful Computer Science department, building on its existing strengths while having the freedom to develop your own ideas and explore innovative classroom practice. You will play an important role in ensuring that students develop the Computer Science knowledge, digital literacy and problem-solving skills they need to be successful in the modern world.

The department has a well‑sequenced and well‑resourced curriculum already in place, providing an excellent foundation from which to develop the subject further and make your own mark. Computer Science is taught to all students at Key Stage 3 and is a popular GCSE option, with consistently strong results year after year. We also run a highly successful A Level Computer Science course, with a large number of students going on to study Computer Science at university or through degree apprenticeships.

The Computer Science department is highly collaborative, making extensive use of Microsoft 365 to share resources, planning and ideas. Students work extensively online, using Microsoft Teams and OneNote Class Notebooks to support learning both in and beyond the classroom. This provides an excellent environment for someone who is enthusiastic about using technology to enhance teaching, learning and student engagement.

Successful Candidate

The successful candidate will be an ambitious, forward‑thinking and highly collaborative educator with a genuine passion for Computer Science and for using technology to enhance learning. They will bring strong subject knowledge and a willingness to explore innovative classroom practice, while having the confidence to share ideas, inspire colleagues and contribute to whole‑school improvement.

They will be an excellent communicator and relationship‑builder, able to inspire students to choose Computer Science and support colleagues in developing their own practice. They will combine high expectations with creativity, curiosity and a commitment to ensuring that students are engaged, challenged and successful.

Above all, we are looking for someone who is ambitious for the subject and its students; someone who can build on the department's existing strengths while bringing their own ideas, energy and vision to its continued development.

A TLR is available for this role, with the level determined by the successful candidate's experience and leadership responsibilities. This can be discussed further at interview.
