Job summary

IDEX Consulting Ltd. is seeking an accomplished Head of Compliance & Lead T&C Supervisor to lead the Compliance and T&C agenda in a Birmingham-based, hybrid environment.

You will shape the function, strengthen controls, and drive AI, automation and data-led monitoring. You will oversee consumer duty, financial crime, regulatory change and governance forums, provide clear MI to senior management, and develop a small team as automation embeds.

Qualifications

• Solid experience in a Compliance / T&C role within financial services.
• Two years' relevant experience or exceptional candidates.
• Knowledge of FCA requirements: SYSC, COBS, SM&CR, T&C, Consumer Duty, AML.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Compliance and T&C functions and provide pragmatic, commercially aware advice and effective challenge.
• Own and develop the Compliance Monitoring Framework and Plan, thematic reviews, control testing and assurance activity.
• Lead the T&C framework, using MI and data to identify development needs and maintain adviser competency.
• Oversee client file reviews, with a focus on using AI-assisted review and automation to increase coverage and consistency.
• Provide second-line oversight of AI used across the business, including advice, suitability, client communications and operational processes.
• Contribute to the organisation's AI governance framework, including risk classification, human oversight, testing, explainability and customer impact.
• Oversee key areas including Consumer Duty, financial crime, complaints, incidents, regulatory change, financial promotions, SM&CR, CASS, operational resilience, outsourcing and data protection.
• Provide clear, concise MI and reporting to senior management and Board-level governance forums.
• Engage with regulators, auditors, advisers and other external stakeholders as required.
• Lead and develop a small Compliance team, with the shape of the function expected to evolve as automation and technology are embedded.

We’re looking for an experienced Compliance professional to take a senior role across Compliance and T&C within a growing, regulated financial services business.

This is a role for someone who is as interested in how compliance can work better as they are in traditional compliance oversight. You’ll have genuine scope to shape the function, strengthen the control environment and help drive the use of AI, automation and data-led monitoring.

What you’ll be doing

We’re particularly interested in people who:

• Have solid experience in a Compliance / T&C role within financial services.


• Have a genuine interest in AI and automation - ideally you've already been experimenting with or implementing them, rather than simply being curious about the subject.


• Are comfortable challenging and testing automated and AI-assisted controls.


• Can work confidently with technology/product teams and translate regulatory requirements into practical systems and processes.


• Are data-literate, able to use MI and dashboards to identify risk and tell a clear story.


• Have strong knowledge of relevant FCA requirements, including SYSC, COBS, SM&CR, T&C, Consumer Duty and AML.


• Can move comfortably between strategic thinking and getting hands-on with the detail.


• Are confident engaging with senior stakeholders and able to provide clear, independent challenge.


• Hold QCA Level 4 (or equivalent) and have at least two years' relevant experience, although we’re open to exceptional candidates.
