Job description

International Head of Compliance, GS Group
Competitive Salary & Benefits
About the role

GS Group provides technical workforce solutions across staffing and consulting. We employ and offer EOR for several countries globally including hundreds of active sub-contractor workers, so the work spans different tax, employment, right-to-work and legal rules in each jurisdiction. We need a senior compliance leader to set the standard across the group, build the controls that keep us safe, and act as the go-to adviser when rules conflict.

Purpose of the role

You will own compliance across all regions where GS Group operates or places workers. You will set the framework, lead the team that runs it, and report risk clearly to the leadership team. The role suits someone who has run compliance in an international umbrella company or employer-of-record business and knows how to keep a multi-country workforce compliant at scale.

Key responsibilities

Own the group compliance framework across employment, tax, right to work, data protection, anti-bribery and sector regulation.

Map the legal and regulatory requirements for each jurisdiction where we operate, and keep that map current as rules change.

Oversee entity incorporations globally, including registration requirements, local directors and company secretarial obligations, and ongoing filings.

Oversee payroll and tax compliance for contractors and temporary workers, including deductions, withholding, social security and statutory entitlements.

Manage visas, work permits and HC cards for workers, and keep track of expiry dates and renewals across every country.

Lead the compliance administration for workers and entities, including records, filings and renewals.

Prepare and submit applications to specific tax offices and other authorities, and manage correspondence and enquiries with them.

Set and monitor right-to-work, background and identity checks for candidates and contractors in every country.

Design controls, policies and procedures that work across regions and fit the group's commercial model.

Lead, develop and manage the compliance team, including any regional compliance leads.

Manage audits, regulator enquiries, incident response and remediation plans.

Work with finance, legal, operations and the sales teams so compliance is built into how we trade, not checked after the event.

Report compliance risk, trends and incidents to the leadership team and the board.

Senior compliance experience in an international umbrella company, employer of record or global staffing business.

Working knowledge of employment, tax and social security rules across several jurisdictions, with the judgement to know when to bring in local counsel.

Hands-on experience with entity incorporation, visa and work permit processes, and tax office applications in more than one country.

Experience designing and running compliance controls at group level, not only in one country.

Experience leading a team and reporting to senior leadership or a board.

A clear, practical style: able to explain a complex rule to a recruiter or a client in plain terms.

Professional qualification or membership in compliance, employment law, tax or payroll (for example, ICA or equivalent).

Experience with audits or regulatory inspections in more than one country.

Experience with the systems used to run contractor payroll and compliance checks at scale.

Experience in recruitment, staffing or technical workforce markets.

Commercially minded: stops problems without slowing the business down.

Calm and firm under pressure, and willing to say no when needed.

Strong written and verbal communication with people at every level.
