More about the role:
The new Head of Health and Safety role is responsible for compliance, health and safety across South Yorkshire Housing Association. SYHA is a unique housing association employing 450 employees. The Association has a large and diverse health, care and wellbeing directorate and operates a direct labour organisation (DLO) (known as HMT and NEAT internally) enabling the association to conduct repairs and maintenance in house.
The role leads the health and safety team and workspaces team and is responsible for the relevant budgets. The role reports to the Director of Corporate Services.
The main purpose of the role is to Lead the development and delivery of SYHA’s Compliance, Health and Safety strategy. To ensure SYHA complies with Health and Safety legislation and regulations in all areas of the business where safety/risks may impact our customers, staff or visitors. To develop a safety culture, supporting the implementation and on-going development of the Health and Safety management system.
The role will act as SYHA’s competent person for Health and Safety, Fire Safety and Building Safety and Compliance, requirement under the Social Housing (Regulation) Act 2023.
