Job description

We are currently working with Swindon Borough Council who are looking to recruit a Head of Communities to support the strategic direction of the prevention and early intervention agenda.

3 months

Rate:

£523 per hour via Umbrella Company, Inside IR35

Site presence:

Hybrid – to be confirmed

Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of Service Leads in the design and delivery of services aimed at building community capacity, improving health and wellbeing, and tackling inequality; thereby reducing/delaying demand and cost to public services.
  • Provide strategic oversight of a number of integrated community-based services, including multi-disciplinary and integrated neighbourhood teams, funded by various internal and external sources.
  • Set medium to long-term priorities for the services, considering wider system pressures, statutory responsibilities, and ensuring programmes are effective, sustainable, and meet demand.
  • Offer expert advice on prevention, health improvement, health promotion, community development, and engagement to internal and external stakeholders, members, and senior leaders.
Experience/Requirements
  • Qualifications in Communities, Public Health, or Community Safety with extensive senior management experience.
  • Proven experience managing complex budgets and multi-faceted teams.
  • ILM Leadership qualification (or similar) at least Level 5 Decision Making.
  • Significant management experience and knowledge delivering outcomes at a senior level.
  • Extensive experience working within Local Authorities and the public sector.
