Head of Communications

Circa £100,000 + £12,000 flex allowance + up to 40% bonus + benefits.

Role purpose:

Are you a strategic communications leader with a passion for aviation? London Gatwick Airport is seeking a Head of Communications to lead media, internal communications, and corporate digital communications. This pivotal role involves shaping and implementing our communications strategy, managing our corporate website and social media, producing engaging content, and driving innovation within our Communications and External Affairs function.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the creation and implementation of a comprehensive communications strategy covering media relations, digital, corporate social media, and internal communications.
• Ensure the strategy engages employees, builds trust, motivates performance, and promotes positive advocacy for London Gatwick.
• Provide guidance and training to the Executive team and senior leaders on media, internal, and digital communications.
• Oversee the evolution of the corporate website and digital/social media strategy for the next 2-3 years.
• Develop the communications team to be high-performing and recognized as a center of expertise.
• Lead on crisis communications as part of the on-call team.
• Establish relationships with investor teams and utilize available tools and resources.

Experience required:

• Formal qualification in communications or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Success in strategic/internal communications and digital roles in fast-paced environments.
• Experience managing communications during organizational change.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Experience in crisis management and interactions with regulators.
• Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills.
