Are you looking for a new challenge? Do you have a technical pricing background and experience leading a team? Do you thrive working in a fast-paced environment and taking ownership to deliver results? If so, we would love to hear from you!

We’re looking for an experienced Pricing Manager to lead a team with overall responsibility for the pricing of Specialties, Energy Marine & Construction, Property and Motor.

As the Pricing Manager, you’ll lead a team of around 20 staff providing support and advice to the Head of UK Pricing and the Line of Business Heads, including insights into underlying performance and implications for the business.

Many of our employees work flexibly in a variety of different ways, including part-time, flexible hours, job share, an element of working from home or compressed hours. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time. Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you may need.

What will you be doing?

As the Head of Commercial Pricing, some of your responsibilities include:

  • Lead the development of pricing/rating structures, continuously improving tools and processes to build pricing capability – including data quality, model performance monitoring, rating tools and integration into underwriting processes
  • Take a lead role in pricing accounts, performing risk transfer analysis, and reviewing collateral needs.
  • Interact with external customers and clients through the pricing of large, complex products and individual accounts.
  • As part of a wider underwriting team, develop strategies across lines of business to deliver business plans and support effective portfolio management through portfolio analysis, reinsurance strategy and ad-hoc deep dives
  • Collaborate with and influence Market Facing and Product Underwriting on strategic portfolio and individual account pricing decisions.
  • Coordinate, prepare and perform actuarial analyses including trend analyses, reinsurance analyses and analyses of loss and expense reserves, as it relates to pricing adequacy and strategic direction.
  • Provide direction and technical expertise on actuarial models and risk issues.
  • Interface with regulators and auditors on pricing issues.
  • Remain current with regulatory/market conditions and apply this knowledge in pricing.

What are we looking for?

For this role, it would be great if you are a fully qualified Actuary with an actuarial pricing background and ideally, experience leading a team. We would expect you to have specific Pricing knowledge of multiple lines of business and a strong understanding of the London market.

Internal stakeholder management and external relationship management is critical to this role. Having the ability to build effective working relationships with our internal Specialities and Energy & Construction teams is essential.
