Job summary

AWE in Reading is seeking a Head of Commercial Performance, Insights, Process & Tools to define the strategic direction for data analytics, reporting, systems, and tools across the Commercial Function. You will lead the development of a data-driven, digitally enabled organisation and provide senior leaders with actionable insights and decision-support.

Head of Commercial Performance, Insights, Process & Tools

Working pattern: AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight, with every other Friday as a non-working day. This role is eligible for hybrid working, meaning employees typically spend three days on site in a long week and two days on site in a short week. The Head of Commercial Insights,ProcessandTools isaccountablefor defining and delivering the strategic direction and execution of data analytics, reporting, systems,process and tools managementacross the Commercial Function.

The role leads the development of a data-driven and digitally enabled commercial organisation, providing senior leaders with actionable insights, performance transparency and effective decision-support mechanisms. Acting as the functional owner of commercial processes, systems and tools, the role ensures the commercial function operates efficiently, consistently and in compliance with AWE, government and industry requirements.

The postholder will lead multidisciplinary teams responsible for commercial performance and reporting, data and analytics, process excellence, commercial systems requirements and enabling tools. They will work collaboratively with Commercial Leadership, Information Services, Finance, Governance, P3M and external stakeholders to drive continuous improvement, maximise value for money and enable successful delivery of the AWE Business Plan. They will own the commercial processes andtools required to underpin effective commercial delivery, and work across Commercial and IS to drive the digital enablement of our commercial processes through fit for purpose commercial systems.

This role will report into the CommercialEnablement Director.

Key Accountabilities:

• Accountable for establishing, measuring and reporting commercial performance against strategic objectives, business milestones and key performance indicators, ensuring visibility of delivery outcomes, risks and opportunities across the Commercial Function

• Accountable for leveraging commercial data, analytics and market intelligence to provide actionable insights that inform strategic decision-making, business planning and performance improvement.

• Accountable for the development and execution of Commercial’s data strategy, acting as custodian of commercially owned data and ensuring robust governance, quality, accuracy, integrity and compliance.

• Accountable for the management and reporting of commercial benefits and savings performance, ensuring the function demonstrates value for money and supports broader organisational objectives.

• Accountable for the ownership, governance and continuous improvement of end-to-end commercial processes across the procurement and contract management lifecycle, including Source-to-Contract (S2C), Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) and Procure-to-Pay (P2P).

• Accountable for the commercial systems strategy, roadmap and digital transformation agenda, working collaboratively with Information Services (IS) to ensure systems effectively support business processes and future organisational requirements.

• Accountable for maintaining commercial standards, templates, processes and tools, ensuring alignment with government requirements, organisational policies and industry best practice.

• Accountable for leading high-performing teams and developing capability across the Commercial Function.

• Accountable for maintaining effective relationships with senior stakeholders across AWE, Government, MOD, DNO, DNE and external partners.

• Senior leadership experience within a Commercial, Procurement, Supply Chain, PMO, Data & Analytics or similar function within a complex, highly regulated organisation

• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams across commercial/procurementdata, reporting and business process functions

• Experience owning and improving end-to-end business processes, including standardisation and continuous improvement

• Experience engaging and influencing senior stakeholders, including executive leadership teams, governance bodies and external organisations

• Significant experience establishing and managing performance reporting environments across large, complex organisations

• Strong experience of data governance, master data management, data quality improvement and information management frameworks

• Proven track record of developing and delivering data, reporting and digital transformation strategies that drive measurable business outcomes

• Strategic leadership with the ability to develop and execute long-term functional strategies aligned to organisational objectives.

• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of commercial and procurement lifecycles.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights

• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to engage credibly at Executive and Board level.

• Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Ability to lead digital transformation initiatives and drive implementation and adoption of systems, tools and technologies

• Comfortable with a degree of ambiguity and changing priorities

• Strong leadership skills to develop high-performing teams and build organisational capability.
