Job summary

A leading consultancy is seeking an experienced Interim Head of Commercial with a strong background in quantity surveying and senior-level commercial leadership on large-scale infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate should have expertise in Mechanical & Electrical elements and be available at short notice. This hands-on strategic role offers a rate of £600-£800/day for an initial 6-month contract.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a senior Commercial leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and construction law.
  • Tier 1 contractor experience is highly desirable.

Interim Head of Commercial – Infrastructure/M&E Experience Required MRICS/CIOB
Location: London (On-site)
Rate: £600-£800/day (Outside IR35)
Contract: 6 Months

We are seeking an experienced Interim Head of Commercial with a strong background in quantity surveying and senior-level commercial leadership on large-scale infrastructure projects. This role demands a deep understanding of complex commercial environments, ideally with prior exposure to Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) elements due to the technical nature of the works involved.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a high-performing commercial/QS team

  • Oversee all aspects of commercial strategy, risk, and governance

  • Manage contract negotiation and compliance (primarily NEC forms)

  • Provide commercial support to work-winning and tender activities

  • Collaborate with finance and delivery teams on forecasting and performance reporting

  • Drive best practice across commercial operations and team development

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a senior Commercial or Quantity Surveying leadership role

  • Strong background in M&E (Mechanical & Electrical) commercial/QS management

  • In-depth understanding of NEC contracts and construction law

  • Excellent stakeholder and client management skills

  • Degree qualified with professional membership (RICS, CIOB, or equivalent)

  • Tier 1 contractor experience highly desirable

This is a strategic, hands-on role with immediate impact. The ideal candidate will be available at short notice.
