Head of Commercial - Branded Generics (UK)
Our client is a global pharmaceutical company specialising in branded generics, with a strong footprint in the UK and a rapidly growing portfolio. Known for delivering high-quality, cost-effective medicines to the NHS, they operate in a fast-paced, commercially driven environment where autonomy and results are valued.
They are now seeking a Head of Commercial to lead their UK branded generics division, managing a team of 4 Senior Commercial Account Managers and driving strategic growth, product switches, and commercial performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the commercial business vertical, aligning Sales, Supply Chain, Regulatory, and Business Development to deliver strategic objectives.
- Partner with Account Managers to drive planning and execution across the UK branded generics portfolio.
- Manage NHS hospital tenders, pricing strategy, and commercial deal-making.
- Drive product switches by working with NHS stakeholders to position branded generics as cost-saving alternatives.
- Conduct strategic portfolio reviews and identify growth opportunities to maximise product lifecycle value.
- Use sales data, ePACT insights, and competitor analysis to shape product strategy and support tender submissions.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain and Procurement to ensure stock alignment and mitigate supply risks.
- Lead launch planning, including advanced budget notifications and customer engagement.
- Support evaluation and implementation of BD&L opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with ABPI, MHRA, and internal governance across all commercial activities.
- Own budget planning and cost control, ensuring alignment with targets and clear communication of variances.
What We're Looking For:
- Proven experience leading national sales or commercial teams in the UK pharmaceutical sector.
- Strong NHS account management and commercial contracting expertise.
- Deep understanding of the UK pharma landscape, including branded generics and NHS structures.
- Highly analytical with strong Excel skills (pivot tables, modelling) and experience using market data to build business cases.
- Comfortable working with autonomy and accountability-no call rates, no CRM, just clear targets and the freedom to deliver.
- Resilient and driven-able to operate in a high-demand environment where expectations are ambitious and constantly evolving.
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, especially with Supply Chain, Regulatory, and BD teams.
